I hope that Connor's father is a nice, simple British soldier who he will encounter along his journey. I also hope he will have a father son moment with him. Has it ever occured to anyone that Connor's father may have decided to stay with the tribe? Maybe he died or lived trying to save them. They could have it so that it appears that he has died, but, later in the story, it turns out he survived. Maybe Connor's father was an assassin? This could have another plot element to it. Throughout the story he could have an anonymus ally helping him e.g. giving him Aquila, then he could find out that it is his father.
