Unfortunately, by the start of the 16th century the Collosseum was well past it's best years. Some stone from the Collosseum was used to repair damage caused by an earthqake, and the arena itself was severely damaged by the quake. I think it was also used as either a church or fortress around that time, I'm not too sure though.
