I agree with you Alex. This could definitely have a Templar perspective to it. I'd put the birth year for the main character earlier so he'd be in his 30s at 1300 and then have him participating in the army that captured Boniface. Then maybe have him doing the actually poisoning of Benedict on Guillaume's orders. Then say attempting unsuccessfully to save the fellow knights of his order from execution and him dishing out the justice to the people listed in the 'famous inclusion' part.
