I wonder what Darby meant when he said, "the current storylines will likely end in the next few years, but the AC universe will go on as long as we can."

Does this mean that they have a legit ending planned to happen soon, but they'll keep making games/media afterwards? I imagine that by ending he's specifically talking about the modern day portion. Otherwise, how would they continue if they end both the modern and historical storylines?
