1. Monteriggioni, I really enjoyed watching it grow in Assassin's Creed II. Not only because of the sense of progression, but also because it was a really nice community with lots of stuff to find (I loved looking for all the treasure chests and feathers on the fortification walls)
2. I didn't play any of the dlc, I'm afraid, so I can't answer this question.
QotW: I haven't pre-ordered it yet, but I'm not the type to pre-order games on the first day possible. I haven't quite made up my mind about which edition, whichever has the most in-game content, least real-life trinkets and lowest price, I guess :)
