I'm not sure whether this was posted but here's a new video

Assassin's Creed IV: Sharks, ships and the sea in Black Flag

Apparently there are different kinds of Sharks and you need to be stealthy in the water to avoid all the hazards. It seems Edward has gills since there wasn't a single bubble meter and the screen didn't turn red while he was swimming about.
