I could see him being misguided about its use to unify the colonies under one ruler or something like that. An ideal that is a little off concerning the freedoms of the newly liberated United States. But just downright evil or corrupted? Maybe. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. But weren't the founding fathers Freemasons or something like that? Didn't they stem from the Knights Templar?
