They have mentioned that everything in Assassin's Creed: Forsaken is canon, so I don't think they'll ever need to make a game regarding Edward's death. If so, it will be an Embers style interpretation of the Forsaken events.

I don't think Connor needs to have his whole life explained away. It's quite frankly demeaning to the series' fans if we can't have some mystery to the Assassins' lives after they appear in a game.
