That's one factor. Kristen Bell's agent wanted for Ubisoft to pay more, and they did not want to. It was always Patrice Désilets' plan to build up the relationship between Desmond and Lucy and then have it suddenly crumble like this, and he was there during her voice recording sessions and did not inform her of her character's death. I imagine Bell's higher price may have been a factor in speeding up that plot.
