Historically Charlemagne was wary of the Papacy and alledgedly even told his son not to allow the Pope to crown him but the son did hence his epithet 'the Pious'. So that’s where my ideas come from. I do think that Charlemagne would have been aware of both the Assassins and the Templars with both factions courting and trying to influence him but for the most part see him as an independent agent.

For the Shroud of Eden I do think that Starrick's Shroud and Jesus's Shroud are the same and I detail how that could be in one of my posts. The lore from AC 2 though was only linked the users implicitly because we didn’t know there were multiple Shrouds at the time. If Consus's Shroud, ie Jason's, Brutus's, Turin, had been the one that Jesus had possessed then Consus most likely would have mentioned Jesus when listing those he came into contact with.
