No offense, but if you researched into history a bit more, Templars were in war with Muslims...Hashashin were in fact in a 'truce' with Templars in a way.

And also, the idea of a single religion/leader has been there FARRRRR before AC, with such things as the conspiracy NWO theories. A Templar adopting it is not strange.
