It's useful if you want to give yourself space, especially if you're unarmed. It's also good to make sure multiple attacks don't get through.

However, the only reason I want it back is to get around that god-awful fact that it is downright frustrating to wait for certain things to happen in combat that you can use to or advantage, i.e. two guards attacking at once (which is far too rare as it is). Since pressing the counter button goes into slow motion which is almost unnecessary once you get the hang of combat and goes on for too long, and it is pretty difficult to use unarmed combat as a result (unless you don't mind the slow motion counters), since you can't deflect blows without a weapon. So, I want to be able to dodge just as a way to bide my time for things I can manipulate.

tl;dr- I just want dodging as an alternative to slow-mo blocking.
