I don't see an Assassin's Creed symbol anywhere on his person, though that blade in his right hand looks suspiciously like a hidden blade (a rather thick one at that).

This is indeed very interesting. Perhaps a teaser for AC3 or another spinoff? Or perhaps something instore for AC:Brotherhood?
