I thought that at first but Ubisoft have said that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will be the third installment to the original trilogy and they will bring out more games depending on successes (hinting at potentially last one)....... It would prove extremely difficult doing a game in the present day/future as they would fear besmirching highly influential people of today, causing them to make up a load of characters and making the game like any other made-up one, thus, losing it's charm......
