No one really "ran" the Italian Assassins after Mario's death. Niccolo and Ezio just made decisions together. But I think Ezio was just the Mentor of the Italian Assassins. (But correct me if i'm wrong, does Ysuf ever refer to Ezio as il Mentore?)
