ACB was somewhat of a disappointment in certain terms, yes. But I've never been as excited for a new AC game as I am for ACR. We don't know anything about the story so far, except for some minor things. And these minor things look fantastic, if you ask me. The Desmond-being-lost-plot, the Ezio, atlhough old and wise, is learning from Altair and so on.. I think that's great. The new face models (except for Desmond lower part of the head, the upper part looks perfectly fine) don't bother me at all, Altair's new accent is greatn And just look at the graphics! That's such a major improvement. I have the feeling, that most AC fans are just not ready for changes. AC1, AC2 and ACB were all in all pretty much the same (not in terms of story though). Now ACR presents us new facial animations, the cities (judging from the Ezio-trailer) look much more vibrant and realistic.. and all people can do is just complain. I understand the feeling that the franchise might go in a completely different direction now, but I personally doubt that. Don't forget that there are already people working on AC3, I assume that they've been working on that for a while already actually. And (I know that that's not confirmed) I'd say that a lot of the developers of AC and AC2 are working on it as well, so ACB and ACR must go into the direction of AC3. Yeah, so Ezio and Altair aren't related. So what? I too doubt that that was planned right from the beginning. But does that make anything worse? It's just a way to make the storyline more interesting. And, after all, that's what AC is about.
