Since the series seems to be advancing in time and not going back, I think the next installment could be a victorian-era London, like the first Industrial Revolution (steampunk tecnology) or the second (eletricity and Tesla, who is already mentioned briefly in AC2). Both game-unexplored eras, and maybe a dream-like flashback to explain those who came before/africa/Adam/Eden in the middle.

We have to keep in mind that ultimately, Desmond's american, so he's other ascendant should have a plausible reason for going there too.
