Let me try this, slowly. Desmond relives his ancestors' memories via his DNA. However, as soon as one ancestor concieved the next ancestor in the bloodline, the first ancestor's memories from that point on cannot be accessed, because the DNA now contains the memories of that ancestor's son. So to say, if Ezio had a child with Caterina (or anyone else, for that matter), Desmond will be unable to relive Ezio's memories any more, because Ezio's DNA stops there and Ezio's child will be the next ancestor for Desmond to relive. Capisce?
