That is true, but not everything was conducted in the darkness. They would wear whatever to blend in. My point is the black clothes was not a specific uniform that practicioners of ninjutsu had to wear. Also, if a game in Japan happened, they could make one thing clear if shinobi were an enemy; ninjutsu is not a martial art.
