What makes me sort of eh about it tho is the thought of them waiting around like our guards.

They should be HARD. They should be super aggressive and give you no breathing room, you see how Connor plays in ACIII? That should be the Ninjas. But to balance it out, make them like the Templars. Not VERY common enemy type.
