I've had this discussion many times on the IRC. Connor wasn't any more human than Ezio or Altair. People like to assume that Ezio was AC's answer to, I dunno, James Bond, but to me, he's anything but. Ezio watched family die right in front of him, which is traumatic enough, not to mention the woman he adored for years, the woman he placed all his hopes and dreams for a new life in. Altair is pretty self explanatory, everyone knows that yarn. And as for Connor, he's just as tragic. Watched his mother get crushed, watched a total massacre of his village -- faces he'd grown up with burning alive right in front of him. All that at the age of 4. Then he went on to making his first kill at age 13 and wound up killing his best friend and daddy dearest a couple years after that. He was all alone by the time he'd hit his late 20s. I don't blame the guy for being the way he was, I don't think I'd be all that cheerful either. People deal with shit in different ways: Ezio got lost in his vices, Altair got lost in the Apple and Connor was just a moody prick.
