yeh you got a point there, but i think they intended to have us (The Player) feel a bit saddend and discomforted just like Horror movies are intended to frighten one, Additonaly You could see in the beginning of ACB that they were building up a close friendship/Relationship between the two, so something bad happening to her was quite inevitable.
