To clarify what the term "unbreakable" probably means: Altair wrote the Codex around, what, the 12th or 13th century AD? that was before things like guns were widely known and before cannons existed. Altair probably wrote "unbreakable" or "indestructible" in the context of the technology base during that historical period, not "permanently indestructible." I seriously doubt that whatever Unobtanium alloy Altair came up with would stand up to a steamroller or some other concentrated effort geared specifically towards destroying it, but in the context of stopping swords and arrows from gutting the wearer, it probably would be hard if not impossible to beat (at least so far as 12th-16th Century technology is concerned). I think the cannonball probably damaged it at the very least, though that all depends on how literal the dev team makes the 'invincibility' aspect of the armor.
