Today, several news sites have reported that actor Michael Fassbender (known for his roles in Inglourious Basterds, Shame, X-Men: First Class and Prometheus) has signed on for the planned Assassin's Creed film.

He is set to produce the film, and also take a starring role. While several sites have reported him to play Desmond Miles,[1] others have claimed that Fassbender does not necessarily have to play as the protagonist of the game trilogy.[2]
