The British forces gathered, forming in two firing lines, despite the usual number being three. After a swift fifteen minutes, the French broke formation and retreated back to Quebec, with the British Forces in close pursuit behind them. Both Wolfe and Montcalm were struck by fatal shots, with James Wolfe dying on the field of battle, and Montcalm passing on the next morning.
