An Istruttore's guide to basic graduation, illumination, infatutation and deliveration of their wonderful and hard-working Apprentices.
The Apprentice Initiative[edit | edit source]
Every staff member has the opportunity to become a Master in the Apprentice Initiative.
I'm not giving a Initiative overview -- if you got into staff, you better know damn well what it is or I'll kick your ass into oblivion XD
Choosing a padawan[edit | edit source]
So, you want to be a master. Fantaaastic.
Every prospective member of the wiki interested in becoming an apprentice goes through an interview. The acolytes sign up for an interview on the Initiative's Recruitment page and are interviewed by one of the higher ups or the rafiq, and, occasionally and in very special instances, a trusted apprentice.
Once having passed the interview, the editor becomes a novice and is ripe for the taking.. err... learning. All novices are listed on the Selection Hall, where they wait for an available Master.
If you want to choose an apprentice, go to the Selection Hall, analyze the candidates, and choose your novice --he or she will be put under your wing as an apprentice.
Training and ranks[edit | edit source]
You have accepted the responsibility of helping someone reach their true potential; you have choosen an novice, contacted him about it, notified the Rafiq, Il Mentore and/or other higher up of your choice, and made him/her a apprentice. Congratulations! Now comes the hard part.
The training.
Your job as a master is to analyze the apprentice's traits and judge whether he/she can make a good staff member. In order to test its abilites and skills (yes, I am using "it" for apprentices from now on -- so I don't have to worry with genders XD ), you will order it to do tasks and assignments, which can be both solo or in a group joint effort. At the right moment, after each task or tasks, or on special circustances, the Master promotes the apprentice.
The ranks are as follow:
- Recluta (Recruit)
- Servitore (Servant)
- Assistente (Assistant)
- Milite (Soldier)
- Discepolo (Disciple)
- Mercenario (Mercenary)
- Guerriero (Warrior)
- Sentinela (Sentinel)
- Mandatario (Agent)
- Silenziatore (Silencer)
- Operativo (Operative)
- Veterano (Veteran)
- Assassino (Assassin)
- Maestro (Master)
- Maestro Assassino (Master Assassin)
Try to give harder quests as the padawan climbs through the ranks, and remember the Initiative is to teach the apprentices something, not just dump a huge workload on them.
A master can also give tasks to other master's apprentices with consent from both of them, like on joint efforts -- in these cases, upon completion of the mission one master can officialy recommend the promotion of the other's padawan, a honor which shall be taken under heavy consideration by the other master.
Knight Trials[edit | edit source]
Once an apprentice has progressed through the 15 ranks of apprenticeship, the moment of truth arrives: its graduation and the path it will follow.
Once all ranks have been achieved and the Master considers the apprentice has learned all it can under his/her tutelage, the master will call a vote. The process goes as follow:
- The Master creates a voting on the Istruttorium's Nomination page and states his judgement of the apprentice -- the Master can either recommend his acceptance into the Istruttorium or not.
- The voting process begins, and all staff members are free to vote.
- The final decision will be made by a council of 5 members -- Il Mentore, Consigliere, Direttore, Carmalengo and the Rafiq.
- Once a unanimous decision has been reached, the voting ends.
If considered and proved Staff material, the apprentice joins the Istruttorium as an Istruttore, and gains all powers and permission of his lvl. 1 clearance. If not, he is given rollback rights and deemed a fully-fledged Assassin, and his name goes into the Graduation Wall in the Initiative records.
No time limit on the voting is set, although I want to make sure it doesn't take forever and will be bugging the council to reach a decision quickly.
