Urðarbrunnr, also called the Well of Urdr or the Well of Fate, was a sacred well under the roots of Yggdrasil said to be the dwelling of the Norns in Norse mythology.[1]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time at Asgard, the All-Father was tasked with going to the Well to retrieve some of its water for The Builder, who said it would power a shield that would protect the city.[2] Odin unsealed the Well, soon being joined by Týr. There, they collected a flask of the water and discovered a great wolf hiding out in the process. Though Odin wanted to slay the beast, he was stopped by Týr, who pointed out that killing in such a sacred place was forbidden. Týr collected the wolf and they left.[3]
