Tom Coulton was a British factory worker in London, during the mid-nineteenth century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Working in a Whitechapel factory, Coulton had little to no respect for the child laborers around him, often going out of his way to give them a beating. On one such occasion, while he was beating up Dooley, his foreman, John Wilkins, intervened. The boy already being unconscious, Coulton used his work knife to stab Wilkins to death.

The Assassins Jacob and Evie Frye investigated the murder, with the help of Arthur Conan Doyle and Henry Raymond. After a complicated investigation, Coulton was accused and confessed to the murder, revealing his bitterness about not being foreman himself. He was then taken away by the Metropolitan Police Service.
