Togodomnus (died 43), known to the Romans as Togodomnus the Terrible, was the leader of the Catuvellauni and brother to Caratacus. Along with his brother, Togodomnus fought against the Roman Empire's incursions into Britain, becoming a thorn in their side.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Following his death, Togodomnus was entombed in an old vault and his resting place became a place of gathering of Britons until Emperor Nero ordered engineer Manius Calvisius to make access to the tombs difficult, in order to stop the Britons from fomenting rebellion against Rome.[1]
In the late 9th century, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir traversed his tomb, avoiding the traps and solving the puzzles constructed by Manius, as well as retrieving a strange artifact and Togodomnus' Bearded Axe.[1]
