Talk:You Should See the Other Guy
You know, if we're gonna make an article for EVERY...SINGLE....MEMORY....in AC2, then there's gonna be problems. First, there's the work. A truck load of memories are present in AC2, you think all of them require articles dedicated to them? Then there's the walkthrough, some missions only require you to carry a damn box off to somewhere. Writing a guide for that would be a waste of space. Also with that, the walkthroughs we have will be pointless. And last is the Timeline Articles. If we continue with this, the timeline and major events would be pointless.
Ain't it obvious that I'm against this idea? --WarClownWanna Talk? 13:10, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
very good point you raise war. But what if people just do articles on core main memories? --Rossko 13:14, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
- The timeline and major events articles are about all events in the whole AC universe, not just the missions which are sometimes, as you say, too minor to be turned into a major event article. And you won't do something because it's too much work? Come on! What kind of attitude is that? =P We could turn the current walkthroughs we have into individual articles. That ought to save us some work. I think that they're quite a few people who would be stuck at certain missions and they would go looking for a walkthrough of that particular mission. However, I see your point. But you could've said that before I was driving myself crazy over that damn template I made for them! -- Master Sima Yi 13:23, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I'm sorry. I just logged in. And it's not because there's too much work, it's because 3/4 of the work is pointless. You think that mission saving Caterina Sforza deserves an article? What're we gonna put in the walkthrough, "Get a damn boat and go save her"? --WarClownWanna Talk? 13:33, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
- We can add a script so as to make the article a little longer, just like I did with this one. But as I said, there aren't just those pointless short missions. And what work would be pointless? -- Master Sima Yi 13:41, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
- But well, if you think it's pointless, you can delete them. I have to go now. -- Master Sima Yi 13:41, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
I have to agree with Master Sima Yi because if you look at all the big gaming wikis they have articles for these missions (such as gtawiki). So that's what I think. Campbell430 16:02, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
You have to remember though Campbell, GTA games dont have any missions where you just have to carrya box 20 metres.--Rossko 18:12, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Well, some of them are just like go to the Well Stacked Pizza go to eat. Campbell430 18:42, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Driving to Well Stacked Pizza, having to deal with a shotgun-totting clerk, and driving back to Grove Street. How's that compared to carrying a box? --WarClownWanna Talk? 02:09, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
- You've made your point, just delete them! Argh. -- Master Sima Yi 08:14, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
being this early in the morning, that really hurt my brain. --Rossko 10:05, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
Ok in GTA San Andreas the mission 'Big Smoke' does compare to carrying a box you don't need to do ANYTHING. : D Campbell430 12:38, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
- No, don't. They're good and I agree with everyone else here in favor of Sima. We've already made quite a few pages already. These articles aren't hurting anybody, and they're useful, if people want to outline certain events of the game without replaying it, they can look at these articles. It's even useful for 'major event' pages and referencing missions in articles without linking to a whole 'major event' page but instead a brief outline. This is a wiki, we write about every major aspect in the game, and squeeze in anything useful that would be a great read and a useful information source. These are good pages, don't delete them.
- From what I've read, War, it's like you're thinking that only you will make these articles, but we are too, I made about 3-4 mission pages today. They took 5-7 minutes each with information supplied from the walkthroughs and major event articles. This won't replace the walkthrough. The walkthrough isn't a brief outline with specific stats like these pages, you can't link the walkthrough into formal articles, but with these mission outlines you can, as the supplied stats (year, outcome, ancestor, target, quote script, etc) are useful. Again, I say; these articles aren't hurting anyone. If you don't like them, don't write about them. Simple.
Like most my arguements, I don't mean to be a huge jackass, if I did offend any of you in anyway then please tell me and I'll apologise. Cheers, --THIEF 09:34, October 26, 2010 (UTC) - :You just don't get it, do you? The Grand Theft Auto Wiki doesn't have a walkthrough because of these pages. They've made small walkthroughs for every mission, because a lot of them involved complex matters, unlike AC2's memories, because a lot of them are very simple jobs (beat down a cheating boyfriend, carry a damn box, row a boat to save a woman). The walkthrough would lose its purpose, along with the major events. Let's say you finish this little project, and you've outlined every memory. Connect every mission you've made, and you've already outlined the timeline. The timeline article and every major events article made would lose its purpose and eventually get deleted.
- You know what, just forget it. Do whatever you want, I've lost interest in speaking out my opinion. --WarClownWanna Talk? 12:46, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
- :: @War, Fine.. Just delete them then. Because you 'are' known to have an opinion that everyone agrees with, eh¿¿ (sarcastic question mark, FTW) :). If you really, really think these would outdo the timeline and event articles, which are basically events in the AC universe, and not small outlines of missions, then go ahead and delete these mission articles against the request of everyone telling you not to. The walkthrough can't even be compared to these. These missions are written in Wiki format. To produce information and statistics, the walkthrough gives out tips and what buttons to press, what routes to take, and is written from a point of view of a player, to help out another player. Sheesh. --THIEF 21:28, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
- :No. Forget it. Forget everything I wrote. Just do whatever's best for the wiki, I have no reason to object anymore. --WarClownWanna Talk? 01:03, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
