Talk:Wei Yu's disciple
Name change[edit source]
Based on my experience on the few articles of Jade that I have written so far, I think "Wei Yu's disciple" as well as "Wei Yu's apprentice" are too imprecise and cumbersome to be the best conjectural names we come up with for the protagonist. One of the main issues is that Chu Huan and Yu Ying are also disciples of Wei Yu. The conjectural name should be as specific to the protagonist as possible. Since Chu Huan is apparently their sworn brother, I have considered "Chu Huan's sworn sibling" would be better, but Sora has pointed out that Yu Ying might also be their sworn sibling. Of course, we need more information from the story to come up with a better name, but I'm anxious to do so as soon as possible since we are already writing articles. I have thought of "Youxia of Jade Spring" as well, but again, this can apply to both Chu Huan and Yu Ying as well. Sora instead has suggested "Heir of the Tianyan Stone" based on a tutorial message that says "You and the heirloom are the last proof of your family's existence." As far as I can find right now, this description is the most particular to the protagonist's background. But if we move to this name, we should remember that it is descriptive not nominal at this time. That is, the protagonist is the current heir of the Tianyan Stone as of the game's setting but not the Heir of the Tianyan Stone as though it were their epithet. I don't wish for us to accidentally "canonize" the title for the character—that is the risk. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 00:59, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
