Is Mario's name Mario Auditore da Firenze? The only reason I ask is that the suffix 'da Firenze' would imply that he (and his brother Giovanni, for that matter) is from Firenze (Florence) when he isn't. Italian surnames of this period did not conform to modern ideas of a son having exactly the same name as his father so Giovanni (who, as I alluded before is not, I think, from Florence originally) would have named his son after the city of his birth. Mario may be better refered to as Mario Auditore da Monteriggioni if that was indeed where he was born.

The "da Firenze" from their name is a title, not the place of birth. Giovanni and Mario weren't nobles by birth, so they only had a surname. And sign your posts, please. -- D. Cello 15:15, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

Well that's me telt. Doesn't make much sense that Mario would have a Florentine title but then the first game featured Christian priests (or monks)complaining that their sons weren't as brave as Altair so I guess Vidic was right that we can't trust what's written in books 'or an online encyclopedia'. Oh here we are: --92.41.15.153 07:08, December 1, 2009 (UTC) just to make you happy.

@signore cello,

da firenze indeed isn't a title, furthermore it really means coming from florence.

If you do some research on Leonardo, you will find out that his name is Leonardo di Ser Piero - to us known as Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci meaning he's coming from Vinci. yours Floxy

@D. Cello
They're right, "da Firenze" literally means "of Florence, suggesting birth or residence in the city. Mario has neither. Also, his quote concerning the feathers is incorrect. If no one else fixes it, I'll correct it once I get the exact wording on my current playthrough. AgentValentine 22:22, February 6, 2010 (UTC)

Knock yourself out, sweetheart. -- D. Cello 02:45, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

His page name needs to be changed to Mario Auditore. He does not have "da Firenze" as a title, because he does not live there--Giovanni moved there in 1454. Mario stayed in Monteriggioni. I'm looking at the in-game database entry as I type this. -- AgentValentine 03:35, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I love you guys. <3<3<3 AgentValentine 04:21, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

Mario's Date of Birth[edit source]

Something's going on with his date of birth. The database has it listed as 1434, then goes on to say he played a major part in the Battle of Anghiari--which took place in 1440. He would have only been 6 years old. I presented the information as a Trivia point, but this isn't the first DOB issue I've seen in the database. AgentValentine 04:34, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe he aged faster, or he got a DeLorean, or he was a Jedi.
But seriously, maybe he was like a lone survivor, or something like it? We have any info about the real-world historical battle? -- D. Cello 04:50, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Yes. Micheletto Attendolo drove the Milanese back and the Florentines won. It took place in 1440. I've got websites and books out here, crosschecking everything. I think it's his date of birth that's the problem. He wasn't a lone survivor, most of the Florentines lived. AgentValentine 05:11, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe from an approximate age in game period we can try to retcon that. -- D. Cello 05:16, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Let me pester some folks on the Ubisoft forums, maybe I can get some other insight on it. For now, I'll leave it as a trivia point. What do you think of the rest of the page so far though? Any suggestions? AgentValentine 05:28, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Getting his year of birth is simple, when you know the age of the one in question: Year that we first saw Mario - Age in wich we fist seen him = His year of birth --Axxon the Grey One 15:39, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

That's a typo, Mario was born in 1422.....[edit source]

Mario is based on a guy called Federico da Montefeltro who was born in 1422...... The likeness is uncanny, right down to the loss of their eye..... And it just so happens, his brother Oddantonio was killed by conspirators....... Echo..... EchoAltair 22:38, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

Do we actually know for sure Mario was killed in 1499? I know in the campaign gamplay movies of brotherhood we heard a gunshot and what I think is an echo of that shot which was aimed at Ezio but have we seen the shot hit Mario bcuz most people think it was two shots(which I didn't say is impossible)? or Mario laying dead on the ground? Or any official information about him being dead? 81.11.189.183 23:37, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Mario as Grandmaster[edit source]

Would it not be correct to assume that Mario became grandmaster in 1476 when Giovanni was executed? It makes sense to me because he would be the one to take over after that. Thoughts?

Bryan Landry 20:00, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

And where does it say Giovanni was Grand Master? 81.158.91.35 20:18, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

The Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood novel. -- Master Sima Yi 20:33, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
That says that Mario was Grand Master not anything about Giovanni, I have not known of it anyway it even being hinted at of Giovanni Being Grand Master? - 81.158.91.35 20:43, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I misread what you said. -- Master Sima Yi 20:47, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
I kind thought so, after all i was the one that told you about Mario, hehe. 81.158.91.35 20:49, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Age at his time of death[edit source]

I am pretty certain he was only 65 when he was killed. As his birthday was not mentioned at all, it is unlikely he was born on the 1st or 2nd of January. The Leaping Eagle (talk) 11:51, July 30, 2012 (UTC)
