Theatre of operation[edit source]
I have a question about the Libyan Assassins. We know they are canon as they are referenced in AC: Rebellion as the Libyan Assassins but in the 15th century, the country knows as Libya doesn't exist yet. In the classical era, the term Libya was used to design Africa and the Libyans were believed to be the ancestor of the Berbers. Between the 13th and 16th centuries, the region of Libya was mostly under the control of the Hasfid dynasty, who also control Tunisia. Can we consider what happened in Tunisia during the Mediterranean Defense a part of the Libyan Brotherhood and not the Tunisian?Francesco75 (talk) 07:10, May 20, 2020 (UTC)
- This might speak to the problem of the Wikia Editor and I deciding to keep all articles on the branches whose existence we could only infer from Mediterranean Defense. In this case, we assumed that each city in Mediterranean Defense corresponded to its own guild or branch due to the way it was organized. Since Tunis and Tripoli are separate bases in that gameplay feature, we organized them as separate branches: the Tunisian Brotherhood and the Libyan Brotherhood. Note that the names are only conjectural and were decided based on consistency. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 19:41, May 20, 2020 (UTC)
- Ok, to be sure. How do we deal with Bursa which is in the Ottoman Empire, same that the Ottoman Brotherhood or another guild? Same question for Rhodes and Athens, Greek Assassins or two guilds? And Damas and Jerusalem which were a part of the Levantine Brotherhood?Francesco75 (talk) 06:59, May 21, 2020 (UTC)
- You actually raise a great question there. I would like to get in touch with the Wikia Editor for his thoughts on that. I'm not sure why it never came up for us. I think our concern in the past might have been just the question of whether a branch in the region existed at all, not where the boundaries lie. However, I now realize that we are implicitly setting those boundaries by what pages we have on these branches. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 12:23, May 21, 2020 (UTC)
