Piece of Eden[edit source]

Is Gae Bolg the POE? unsigned comment by Andy5362430 (talk · contr)

No, there's been no official confirmation. While Eivor does retrieve it from a hallucinated fight against the entity Balor, it's just a special spear and has no known ties to the Isu. – Darman (talk) 15:25, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

Editing war[edit source]

Don't like to play devil's advocate but i think the additions to this page are warranted. The gae bolg can be seen outside the hut lodged in the monolith before eivor ingests the potion. Balor makes reference to Eivor being two times blind in reference to Odin's lost eye, he's called Woden and Fjolnir which are other names used for Odin. It may not be a poe but it is a spear that shoots lightning so idk how it would else be explained in canon. So the edits seem fine to me? correct me if I'm wrong ofc BearticWiki (talk) 14:30, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

Yes, that's the point of the update. How can you explain a spear that throws lightning in lore without it being a PoE or a Isu relic? TiagoFF (talk) 14:50, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
Not defending you editing after the staff has told you to stop, just saying we should have a discussion on it. BearticWiki (talk) 15:13, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
If I contradicted someone, I apologize. When I edited again after the staff's warning, I was trying to correct the "Spear of Eden" statement that I had written and put it to "Precursor Relic" immediately. Didn't mean to disobey to the staff. TiagoFF (talk) 16:30, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

Decided to move this conversation here instead since TiagoFF and I have been at it for a while in the edit comments. I will let TiagoFF make their own case, but I am of the opinion that everything presented onscreen is to be taken as is, mainly, that Eivor faces Balor as herself and she alone seeks the power of the spear. Like how Deirdre asks how Eivor does not remember Balor from her life as Wodin, Balor also recognizes Odin's presence and addresses Eivor as Fjölnir before making reference to Odin's missing eye, even though Eivor does not know the name or being Balor and ignores Odin's alias by not answering to it and demanding the spear straight up. Odin does not speak unless one plays as non-canon Male Eivor/Havi. Further, I believe Odin's duel is long before Cú's since both Odin and Balor are in myths predating Cú. With the duel set before Cú instead of after, Odin does not take the spear and the chronology of Gae Bolg's ownership is in keeping with my last edit listing Cú Chulainn > Balor > unknown person(s) > the rock outside Deirdre's hut > Eivor. I will concede that Cú Chulainn is a hybrid and likely should be classified as such (Herakles, too, as one of the most famous sons of Zeus, now that I think of it) as a descendant of the Isu Lugh, but I maintain that I do not think all demi-gods are hybrids. While the Isu correspond to many gods, they surely do not account for all divine entities, as shown by Balor, the rest of the Hindu pantheon which Durga is part of, and the lack of any distantly East Asian gods like Amaterasu, Di Jun, or Hwanung. As a more minor point, the area presented cannot be Balor's fortress Dún Bhaloir since it has no walls, in real life the name is for a rocky outcropping on the Irish coast, and the game battlefield is little more than a slightly flooded standing stone circle. – Darman (talk) 02:45, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
