Talk:François Mackandal
Precursor Box[edit source]
I don´t know if we can confirm that the Box he had was the one from Freedom Cry with all this "Multiple Boxes" thing that Farresse confirmed. Embers, Chronicles China and the Freedom Cry Box looks exactly the same, but Rogue's Box is just different at every aspect. We should do something about it. - Like Sima said, we should wait for more information. Stormbeast ♉ The Helpful Place 03:25, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
- We can´t confirm anything, Adé doesn´t know about the multiple Boxes, and maybe Mackandal's Box is a different one. We just need something confirming if Bastianne gave Mackandal the Box, because what we know for sure is that there are at least 2 Boxes in America. Farrese said that Embers' Box and Rogue/Freedom Cry's Box were different ones, but we have that Manila Galleons thing and the visual differences, and according to the visual differences, Rogue's one is different one. Evidently what could be gathered from what Farrese said was that he wasn't 100% sure on whether they were the same but that he was 100% sure there are multiple boxes. If the war letter from Rogue might be John Harrison being "wrong" as James Nadiger told Crook on Tumblr (?) then the entire letter serves absolutely zero purpose. Saying "that character was wrong" after the fact is awful storytelling anyway. We might as well start doubting any information we received through in-game characters. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 17:09, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
- Here's the Tumblr post from James Nadiger Sima's talking about. Crook The Constantine District 17:32, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
- At this point, I can only hope 2014 was a temporary stumble in AC's narrative quality and not the beginning of a full-blown nosedive :/ Crook The Constantine District 17:55, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
- "Maybe it was Ezio’s box that was shipped out of Manila, but what they found in Haiti was the Rogue box instead and Ezio’s box is still lost in the Caribbean? If the only description you have is “precursor box” and you’ve never seen one before, would you know the difference?" This is what im talking about. It explains everething plus the visual differences DipsonDP (talk) 17:46, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
- ... Talking about this mess with the Boxes: https://twitter.com/SunnyGearSolid/status/652928718516682752 More boxes! DipsonDP (talk) 18:48, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
To be frank what Nadiger is offering are explanations which we can all think up ourselves. What I'm talking about is that war letter being written for a reason, and that reason can't have been anything other than tying Embers and Freedom Cry together. If it wasn't, then whoever wrote it needs to take a reality check (no offense). -- Master Sima Yi Talk 19:40, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
- To be honest, I feel like the letter was written with an intent to tie Embers and Freedom Cry together (especially considering it's like the last War Letter you get from the naval mini-game), but somewhere (probably after Rogue if I'm being completely honest) a creative decision was made and the tie-in doesn't fit anymore so now we just have to pretend it's not there. - I don´t know, it works for me :/ (If it is what Nadiger said (Rogue's Box been a different one)) DipsonDP (talk) 20:01, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
- I've moved my response here, as it makes more sense to continue this discussion on the correct talk page. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 10:51, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
