Talk:François-Thomas Germain
Age[edit source]
I don't really see any reason to assume his DOB wasn't 1726, like in history. He still looks like he could be in his 60s - look at Hilary Clinton - I was pretty surprised to learn she's 68. Factor in the fact that he has First Civ blood in him, and we don't know if they age, or how quickly. Lafreniere and Sivert both put up a decent fight if they detect you, and they're both pretty old. A man as evidently wealthy as Germain obviously has the resources to keep healthier, and therefore age more slowly. I see nothing to debunk the fact he could be in his late 60s. - His appearance is irrelevant. Assuming he was born in 1726, purely because Wikipedia says so, is speculation. The fact that his canon DOD is off compared to the site is testament to that. Stormbeast ♉ The Helpful Place 15:00, December 13, 2014 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not the only sources stating that Germain was born in 1726, books on silversmithing refers to the Germain family, which was renowed for its craftmanship until François-Thomas was disgraced and lost his status as Silversmith of the King. I don't know for english books but the french sources, encyclopedias and dictionaries give 1726 as the date of birth of François-Thomas.
- Because there's a difference between what's historically recorded and what is AC canon. If they changed the death date, you can't say, without a doubt, his birth year is still 1726. Stormbeast ♉ The Helpful Place 17:08, December 13, 2014 (UTC)
- Look at Prince Ahmet. In AC canon, he died a year early, but he was born in the same year he historically was. Just because the DOD is altered in canon doesn't mean the DOB always is. Without further info (which will probably arise if they make a new edition of the Encyclopedia or something), I'd say stick with the only date we have - 1726. Does Unity's database provide another DoB, or say that it's unknown, like Anne Bonney's Dob? --Crimson Knight Intercom 17:30, December 13, 2014 (UTC)
- Doesn't give one. It's the usual "nobody knows anything about his early life" bullshit. --Kainzorus Prime ⚜ Walkie-talkie 17:47, December 13, 2014 (UTC)
Then there's no reason to assume his DOB is anything other than 1726. I don't even understand why this has become an issue. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 17:53, December 13, 2014 (UTC)
Date of banishment?[edit source]
Do we have an official date when he was cast out? I collected all the info I could find but it is only suggestion.
1) In A Cautious Alliance, Elise said he was cast out when she was a girl, she could describe him and said he died years ago. Elise knew about the Templars in 1774. So we could said that Germain was cast in 1774 for the earlier, and for the latter in 1780 or 1782 when Elise was 12 to 14.
2)Sivert and Lepelletier were present when he was cast out. While Lepelletier was a Templar at least from 1779, Sivert was the governor of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon (near Canada). He lived in France between 1778 and 1783 and return definitively in 1785.
Then we can establish a laps between 1778 and 1783, as in 1785, Elise will be more a teen/young adult than a girl.Francesco75 (talk) 10:11, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
