How can someone arrive to Cappadocia by ship ? There isn't any sea or river there.

Stone doorway on center pillar

Does anyone know what the deal is with the stone doorway that looks like it was filled in quite hastily?  It is located on the path to the only viewpoint on that map.  Its just something that has bugged me for a bit, and figured maybe someone else has some information on what it is and why it appears like a quick fill in job.
