Talk:Black Room
do you think when Subject 16 said "...find me in the darkness" at the end of the truth maze in Brotherhood, was he referring to the black room? If so then he could appear in Revelations and help Desmond break out of his coma.

- I agree with the unsigned person above. :) Maybe somehow Subject 16 got his hands on a Phaistos disc and copied his memories into the Animus database in an area that the Templars cannot access--the Black Room. Then we'll find out what all of these glyphs and puzzles and TWCB mean and then AC 3 will be off the hook. Strang3Happ3nings 22:50, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
Why do you keep referring to the Phaistos DIsc? It is an important archaeological artifact but it's never been connected to the series in anyway, it's best to drop it. It's doubtful it was ever that important anyways, judging by the somewhat clumsy craftsmanship and it's being found in a casual location within it's discovery town.
They say altair used Phaistos discs to store his memories, therefore I am using that term. Until they start saying otherwise, I will use Phaistos disc to refer to that device. Strang3Happ3nings 01:15, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

Seperation[edit source]
In the game, the Black Room is seperated from Animus Island. That's why I think we should seperate this article with Animus Island as well. VaniVoid97 20:01, November 13, 2011 (UTC)
Black Room portals[edit source]
So the first five portals are opened up by getting data fragments, but (spoiler) after the end credits and the island is rebuilt the previously broken sixth and seventh portals are fixed but arent doorways to the black room. Does this ever go anywhere or are they saving that for DLC? I havent gotten all 100 fragments yet so i dont know if that effects it. Ombra Lupo 12:27, November 24, 2011 (UTC)
Trivia add[edit source]
When Clay explains the Black Room, he descirbes it as the basic, first program inputted into the Animus. He then remarks, "Hello World", which is also the most common statement for anyone learning programming in a programming class or tutorial to be printed out. Basically the first program they create will be to create a program to say Hello World, much like Clay said Hello World when describing the Black Room to be the first version of the animus. Works[edit source]
According to Alexandre Breault, this gameplay was inspired by the works of René Magritte and Roger Penrose.
Personally, the Animus Island reminds me of the works of Jean-Pierre Ugarte too. 173.177.106.145 02:42, April 25, 2013 (UTC)
Rename[edit source]
I've been on a verge of this for a while now, but I propose a rename to Animus Island.
First, because if the Black Room is an opposite of the White Room, then it's essentially opposite of the Memory Corridor, rather than a physical manifestation of an island. So the Black Room itself would be simply the dark memory corridor in Revelations.
Secondly, the only instance where the game mentions the Black Room is in the user manual section regarding Desmond's Journey, implying that DJ sections take place within the Black Room itself.
Thirdly, since we do not have an article regarding the White Room, it's sort of pointless to have an article named after it's obsolete counterpart. That aside, the location is clearly an island, rather than a room in any way, shape or form.

Nay
- The Black Room was mentioned in the Encyclopedia and interviews for ACR as being the failsafe program, the backup program, of the Animus. The White Room is the normal running program of the Animus, not specifically the memory corridor. The lack of an article on the White Room should be no reason to rename this article to something else when a White Room article can be made. Additionally, if Desmond's Journey takes place running the Black Room, I don't see why this need be renamed to Animus Island; does Desmond's Journey take place within Animus Island? I say keep it like it is, for I see no need for change. A White Room article could be made. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 17:18, July 26, 2013 (UTC)
- Yay. An edit conflict. My life is slightly better now. Joking aside, I think that the way it is now is fine. No need to change it. --Crimson Knight Intercom 17:41, July 26, 2013 (UTC)
