Takayama Ukon (高山右近; c. 1552 – 1615) was a Japanese Christian daimyō.[1] Ukon was a very fervent Christian, as were all the samurai under him. Because of their fond relations with the Jesuits, who at times acted as his advisors, the missionaries accrued much influence.[2] In 1587,[3] Toyotomi Hideyoshi banned the Jesuits from Kyushu and deprived Ukon of all his domains, leading to his eventual banishment.[2]
