Šihāb ad-Dīn Mahmūd ibn Takash was the Governor of Hama, maternal uncle of the Ayyubid Sultan Salāḥ ad-Dīn, and his second-in-command. Šihab was present during the siege of Masyaf in 1176, and negotiated the terms of his nephew's withdrawal, following an infiltration of the man's personal tent by the Assassins the night before.

Šihab informed the Assassin Mentor, Al Mualim, that the only condition the Saracens insisted upon was the execution of the Assassin responsible for the death of a Saracen nobleman the night before: Umar Ibn-La'Ahad.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • In Arabic, Šihāb ad-Dīn (شهاب الدين) means "Star of the Faith". The word Šihāb (شهاب) can also refer specifically to a "shooting star".
