Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria di Montesanto are two churches in Rome, standing on the edge of the present day Piazza del Popolo.

History[edit | edit source]

During the Renaissance, the Santa Maria di Montesanto was initially built to house Carmelites monks who were hiding from the outside world. In 1662, the church was converted into one of the two churches with the renovation lasted 13 years.[1]

Today, the structures have become iconic landmarks in modern day Rome.[1]
