Roffe

Roffe was a king of the South Gyrwans who lived in Grantebridge.

At one point, Soma met with King Roffe and told him to proclaim to all that he had killed her, to which he responded that no one would believe him. Soma then proposed that he invite the nobles of East Anglia, Mercia and Wessex to watch him burn her in a pyre. He did as she asked, and before all assembled, pronounced her guilty of murder and sentenced her to death. Then they put her on a boat and set it afire, but Soma had constructed a trap beneath the pyre and escaped. When night fell, Soma returned to Cambridge, stole into the king's chamber and beheaded Roffe, shouting, "Traitors of Soma wear no heads!"
