Randgríð (lit.: Shield-destroyer) was a battleaxe which belonged to the Viking prince Styrbjörn the Strong. By 985, Styrbjörn fought with Randgríð against the Christian king Harald Bluetooth. Despite the overwhelming odds, Styrbjörn proved victorious in gaining his army.[1] He continued to carry and use his axe[2][3][4] until his loss and subsequent death at the Battle of Fýrisvellir.[5]
