Rami Hassan

Rami Hassan is the middle child of Ashraf and Zeinab, he is also the younger brother of Layla and older brother to Kaden.

Biography

Rami was born after 1986, after his family had immigrated to the United States. Having been born in the country, he was immediately granted American citizenship.

On 21 October 2017, Layla mentioned Rami in an email to their parents. She disclosed that her next assignment was taking her to Egypt and suggested flying back in for a visit when she returned and proposed inviting Kaden and Rami so the family could talk with like adults together. Two days later, Rami received an email from Layla while she was in Alexandria. In it, she requested he send her an old family photo of their mother in Florida while they were there visiting the parks, saying that she had found the perfect headscarf to replace the one their mother lost. She also told Rami to keep her whereabouts a secret.

On 1 May 2020, Rami received a vague email from his sister, who mentioned she was recovering from an unexpected and dangerous trip related to her new group's activities, assuring him she was safe with trustworthy companions and expressing hope for better times ahead while asking him to convey her love to their parents. The following day, Rami replied to Layla's email expressing his concern and dissatisfaction with her cryptic message and lack of phone communication. He refused to relay her message to their parents, fearing it would lead to unanswerable questions and disappointment, especially from their father, who took pride in her work at Abstergo. Rami urged her to call him and their father to reassure them of her safety. More than a week later, Layla assured Rami she did not have COVID-19 and was isolating with two others, to which Rami sarcastically replied that her brief clarification did little to ease his worries.

Three months later, Rami expressed his frustration and concern, revealing he had been covering for Layla with their father by fabricating a story about her being on a research trip in the Amazon, and urgently asked her to write or call. Unbeknownst to Rami and the rest of the family, Layla had sacrificed herself for the good of humanity by connecting with Yggdrasil, an Isu supercomputer located in a heavily-irradiated cavern beneath Hordaland, Norway.

Behind the scenes

Rami (رامي) is an Arabic name meaning "archer" or "Sagittarius". While Hassan (حسن) is a common Arabic surname meaning "strong, good".
