The Palazzo Senatorio is a building in Rome. It was built on top of the Capitoline Hill during the 13th and 14th century.
History[edit | edit source]
Built during the 13th and 14th century as the Senatorial seat for administration of justice in Rome, the Palazzo is the dominating structure of the Campidoglio. Tourists today would see an impressive double-flighted staircase in front, which was designed by Michelangelo.[1]
Not only intended to induce fear in the climacophobic, these stairs were a part of a commission Michelangelo received to redo several of the buildings on the Campidoglio at the behest of Pope Paul III for the sole purpose of impressing Charles V, then ruler of the Holy Roman Empire.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The Palazzo is one of the Territories that can be bought in Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy.
