The Old Port of Aga

The Old Port of Aga was a port in southern Aga in Harima, Japan.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke traveled to the port and met with Konishi Yukinaga, who recalled the smell of the incense at the rengakai too. Yukinaga explained the incense is identical to those of his business partners from Bizen, who had been helping him and Ukita Naoie restore holy sites. Naoe and Yasuke offered to go in his stead and then met with a group of armed merchants. After a brief discussion, the merchants assumed that they were with Kuroda Kanbei and attacked them but were killed by the pair. Afterwards, they recovered an inventory order at Aga Hontokuji Temple and went there to investigate.[1]

Together, Naoe and Yasuke uncovered that weapons were shipped to the temple, a map of Himeji Castle and a shrine, and approval from Yukinaga. Returning to the port, they confronted Yukinaga who explained that he only authorized the incense but was oblivious to the weapons. With this information, they went to investigate the shrine.[1] While at the port, they also established a kakurega.[2]
