The Ohkwá:ri Club was a type of club used by the Iroquois people of North America.

During the 9th century, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan bought this club from an Iroquois merchant in Vinland.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Ohkwá:ri is a Kanien'kéha word that means "bear".[2]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • This club is based off of ball-headed war clubs used by Native Americans of the Eastern Woodlands cultures, such as the Huron, Iroquois and Algonquian peoples, such as the Abenaki and the Lenape. These types of clubs were used well into the colonial period as well.
