Odysseus' Bow

Odysseus' Bow, or the Bow of Odysseus was the legendary bow which had allegedly belonged to Odysseus, the king of Ithaka and a hero of the Trojan War in Greek mythology. The claim was easy to believe, for the bow was exceptionally well-made, and it was as beautiful to look at as it was deadly to use.
History[edit | edit source]
According to Greek legends, the bow was amongst his prized artifacts along with a wreath and a lyre. In Delian folklore, the bow and the wreath was hidden by Odysseus on the island, which was eventually recovered and kept amongst the artifacts in the Grand Temple of Apollo. It was said that when the statues in the temple matched one another, the path to the bow would be revealed.
In 405 BCE, Odessa, who claimed descent from Odysseus, had recovered the lyre connected to her ancestor's legend. She brought the instrument to Delos where she met the misthios Kassandra and Spartan handler Kastor. Odessa narrated the legend involving the bow to Kassandra, convincing her to help her locate the weapon in the treasury. Kassandra eventually did so and handed the bow to Odessa, who found herself unable to wield it. Instead, she handed the bow to Kassandra, who promised to make good use of it.[1]
In 2018, the Assassin Layla Hassan applied a digital mod to her Portable Animus 8.5 that made a simulated weapon to use when reliving the genetic memories of Kassandra during the Peloponnesian War.[2]
