Nochiseyama Castle

Nochiseyama Castle (後瀬山城) is a castle located in Obama, Japan. During the Sengoku period, it was situated in the Wakasa province.[1] Its ruins have been protected as a National Historical Site as of 1997.[2]
History[edit | edit source]
In 1582, Takeda Motoaki, a member of the Takeda clan and the Shinbakufu, plotted to usurp and kill members of the Niwa clan for retribution over his personal losses and to take over the castle that he once held. However, his plans were cut short as he was ultimately killed by the Igan shinobi and Kakushiba ikki Fujibayashi Naoe, who sought out those responsible for the death of her father Fujibayashi Nagato.[3]
At some point, Naoe and fellow Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke infiltrated the castle, eliminated three of its samurai daisho, looted the tantō Masumune's Thorn from its treasure chest, climbed atop its tenshu to oversee the land,[1] and acquired a painting of Kanō Eitoku.[4]
