The Mountain Temple of Poseidon

The Mountain Temple of Poseidon was a ruined temple within Ancient Pearl on the island of Lesbos, Greece.

History[edit | edit source]

During the 5th century BCE, the temple ruins was the site of dark rituals dedicated to the sons of Ares, Deimos and Phobos, by cultists wielding one of the prongs of the Trident of Eden to harness the power of fear.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, this site was used by the mercenary Zetes the Retired after his unfortunate run in with the creature in the Petrified Valley.[2] Known as the "Slayer of the Writhing Dread", the mercenary waited for challengers in the temple, building a memorial for those the creature had claimed.[3]

The Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the place after Bryce suggested it to her, based on the rumors of Zetes.[3] The two mercenaries fought, and Kassandra claimed, victorious, Zetes' prized spear, the Gorgon Slayer.[2]
